Metaverse is crowded with projects which are yet to deliver on their promises. Building utility around NFTs takes time, so you are betting on teams that can ship things in most cases.

Today, I will talk about a new blockchain game, Tatsumeeko, developed by the team behind Discord leveling bot, Tatsu.

Tatsu is used by 1.6 million servers with over 60 million users. Over 4,500 crypto-centric teams use the bot to give out allowlist opportunities and increase community engagement. 

An experienced team like Tatsu’s has more chances of making Tatsumeeko a fine game, unlike many others. And you can bet on it for less than $175.

The Tatsumeeko metaverse will be composed of avatars, virtual land, pets, and other digital items. There will be a role-playing game with turn-based battles modes. Besides, there will be mini-games such as fishing, hunting for loot, and taking care of pets.

In the beginning, the game will be played on Discord using the Tatsu bot. The battles in Tatsumeeko will be chat-based, meaning all the actions in the game are entered as messages in a Tatsu server. 

Take for example, Tatsu’s digital pet management game, Tatsugotchi. To create a Tatsugotchi pet, users need to use the “t!shop” command in a Tatsu-enabled channel. 

Other activities like feeding, walking, and training are also performed using similar commands.

So far, Tatsu.gg has facilitated the trading of 3.3 million items on its marketplace. This shows considerable demand for such games among many Discord communities.  

According to the team, existing users will retain Discord Tatsu profiles with credit points and server batches. The only difference is that the backend will be on Solana, which will enable true asset ownership. The upgrade is planned for Q2 2022. 

Meekolony NFTs on Solana is the genesis collection of 10,000 NFT characters for Tatsumeeko. NFT holders will receive in-game token airdrops, valuable assets, and have additional perks in the game. 

The mint drop of Meekolony NFTs was on 24 Dec. 2021 for 0.5 SOL each (worth ~$95 at the time). Currently, these NFTs are selling for a minimum of 1.77 SOL (~$161.95.) 

The token airdrop is still due, so there’s an advantage in buying Meekolony now. Once the airdrop happens, you will likely be able to sell your NFT at about the same price you paid for it. However, you will have free airdrop money to sell it for profit or let it ride.

You may want to hold on to your Meekolony avatar, though. The team established a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO), MeekoDAO, where members will vote on the key issues and development of the game. In the future, the DAO will likely facilitate renting out Meekolony NFTs, giving early NFT owners an opportunity to be metaverse landlords. 

The risk of investing in Tatsumeeko assets now is that it’s a long-term play. Since the game isn’t live yet, the demand for NFTs is relatively low now. However, airdrops should reduce this risk for early buyers. 

Overall, Tatsumeeko is a solid bet: you have an experienced team and a relatively low price for an NFT. On top of that, you’re still early to gain from the upcoming airdrops. It’s a rare occurrence in the metaverse space recently flooded by projects that don’t deliver much. Definitely worth your attention.
