One of the best crypto waves worth riding is a move-to-earn (M2E) project in its growth phase. M2E typically uses crypto to reward people for doing everyday activities or hobbies they often already enjoy, often on the condition that they invest in some NFTs first. Win-win.

You’ve probably heard of StepN, arguably the most successful M2E project so far. It launched in March this year, allowing people to run, walk or jog to earn money. Its popularity caused a stampede for GMT, the token used to buy the NFT sneakers needed to earn, sending it 24x from $0.16 to just over $4.

Hot on the heels of StepN’s success, a pack of competitors entered the market, offering various M2E opportunities. Few though have had the depth of quality needed to succeed. Now, a project with strong credentials is ready to make strides, and you can catch it early.

Gritti is an M2E platform built around running. Unlike many of its forerunners, the team behind Gritti are successful Web 2.0 running-app developers. From experience, they’ve come to understand users’ needs and describe themselves as having unparalleled access to a range of the biggest hitters in the sports industry.

This access came from the Gritti team having built one of the world’s largest running apps, with over 100 million active users. Now they’ve secured a $1.7 million seed fund investment to convert app users from Web 2.0 to Web 3.0.

What do these numbers equate to? Converting even a tiny fraction would put Gritti’s user base on par with StepN’s, and it’s not ridiculous to consider them exceeding StepN’s numbers. At its peak, StepN had a market capitalization of just under four billion dollars, so if Gritti reaches its level it should end up being a good investment.

Gritti plans to achieve this user conversion by firstly making crypto simple to use in its app. The usual technical hurdles that most people have to overcome will be removed. This means users will be able to easily see and store NFTs, tokens, and performance data while also having access to an exchange through which they can cash in their earnings.

Gritti also knows users are attracted to and kept engaged by varied running modes. The app will offer users a range of individual and group activities that enable the experience to be social, focused, and rewarding. Finally, users of various skill levels will be matched with appropriate competitors. All of the above, as Gritti says, are essential to maintaining motivation and engagement.

Add the ability to customize the NFT sneakers needed to play, and a creator economy opens up too. Gritti’s plans show that their NFTs will be 3D and constructed from the same component parts as real sneakers. Like real-world versions, each component will influence performance, enhancing users’ ability to earn money as they earn, or buy, better parts.

This use of NFTs also creates the opportunity to onboard the big brands Gritti has worked with previously. Sponsorship deals with equipment manufacturers are likely, and the team is also touting their intention to form technical partnerships with prominent event organizers that should raise brand awareness on a potentially massive scale.

You can imagine what collaborations such as these would mean for the value of Gritti tokens and NFTs. We’ve written numerous emails about the importance of pre-existing user bases, which is why Gritti’s seed investment to onboard those Web 2.0 users to its new app is significant.

However, the road is long. Gritti is still in the development phase, but this is good for anyone looking to be early. The team is currently testing the product in closed beta but will run an open beta in the next few weeks.

This is your opportunity to get on board by joining their Discord server and looking out for announcements. As we know, supporting development at this stage often results in rewards of some description.

Finally, there is also an upcoming genesis sneaker collection which may launch at the same time as the open beta. While no details have yet been announced, bagging some of these at early prices looks to be a winner. Once again, keep your eyes on the Discord server or Twitter.

Until next time
